Allergies Treatments in Akron

Allergies are a type of immune response that occurs when the immune system overreacts to a harmless substance, known as an allergen. The symptoms of allergies can vary depending on the type of allergy and the severity of the reaction. Here are some of the most common types of allergies and their symptoms:

  • Allergic rhinitis (hay fever): This type of allergy is caused by airborne allergens such as pollen, dust mites, and animal dander. Symptoms may include sneezing, runny or stuffy nose, itchy or watery eyes, and postnasal drip.

  • Food allergies: This type of allergy is caused by certain foods such as peanuts, tree nuts, eggs, milk, soy, wheat, fish, and shellfish. Symptoms may include hives, swelling, itching, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and in severe cases, anaphylaxis.

  • Drug allergies: This type of allergy is caused by certain medications such as antibiotics, aspirin, and chemotherapy drugs. Symptoms may include hives, itching, rash, and in severe cases, anaphylaxis.

  • Insect sting allergies: This type of allergy is caused by stings from insects such as bees, wasps, and fire ants. Symptoms may include swelling, itching, hives, and in severe cases, anaphylaxis.

  • Contact allergies: This type of allergy is caused by contact with certain substances such as latex, nickel, and poison ivy. Symptoms may include itching, redness, and rash.

It’s important to note that the severity of symptoms can vary widely between individuals and can even differ from one reaction to the next. If you suspect that you have an allergy, it’s important to consult with a healthcare provider for diagnosis and treatment.

We’ll work with you to discover the cause of your allergies, evaluate your immune system, and give you the tools to feel good.

Food Allergies

Food sensitivities are becoming more common. Unlike an allergy, which causes an immediate reaction such as a rash or hives, food intolerances or sensitivities can cause symptoms much slower, making it difficult to pin point the causes. It could be GI distress with diarrhea, or fatigue, weight gain or migraines. We use sensitive blood testing to determine the trigger foods, and then put you on a plan for gut healing.
